Goodbye, Cultus Lake

From across the road, here's the blueberry fields. The building in the distance is the barn/garage near the house where we stayed.

The view of the mountains- isn't it beautiful?

It was pouring with rain today. We got an early start, cleaned up all our stuff, packed up the car and were out of there by about 11:15 AM. It was great! Then we drove for an hour and a half or so (my timing might be completely off, I don't know) guided by our lovely new Garmin GPS. :) So anyway, we arrived here at my aunt's house in Vancouver at about 1:00.

Last day...

It is now our last day here in the peace and seclusion of the countryside. Tomorrow we go to stay at my aunt's house in Vancouver. It has been really nice staying here. I don't have much more info on the travel plans, but I do know that driving to Russia is looking more and more impossible. Hopefully it'll all work out. Anyway, I've been having some trouble with the memory card for my camera, so I don't really have any pics to post of the farm here. :(

The Next Step

Now we are living near Cultus Lake, on a blueberry farm owned by some very good friends of the family. It's a lovely spot to unwind after the hustle and bustle of the city, and my leftover frustration from packing and moving and being homeless is almost completely gone. I don't have a very good internet connection though, so I probably won't be blogging for quite a while.
Anyway, there was another change in plans. We can't fly to Switzerland until the 11th of September. So we're most likely going to be here for longer than we thought. We will be staying in Langley for a bit though, and the wi-fi is better there... :)
All things considered, this is a great place to have a vacation! I'm glad we were able to stop here first instead of going straight to Europe. I need a few days to sort myself out. :)

Goodbye Sooke, Hello Vancouver

Today was quite a memorable day. Kristina and I rode the Queen of New Westminster ferry from Swartz Bay terminal in Sidney to Tsawassen terminal in Vancouver. We are staying with my aunt until Sunday. Her house is right on Main Street, so it's pretty busy. This is only a fraction of what St. Petersburg will be like, but for a girl who grew up in the quiet and privacy of the country, this is a big change. :) I'll post pics of my aunt's house, the ferry ride, etc. later.

Change of Plans...

Well, there's been a change of plans. Now, instead of leaving this evening, it turns out that Kristina and I will take the ferry tomorrow night to stay with our aunt in Vancouver. Then, on Saturday, the rest of the family will come and Lucy will stay one night with us at our aunt's house and then we will all drive out to Cultus Lake to meet up with my parents on Sunday. And because of troubles with our visas and passports and such, we won't be able to fly out until either the end of August or beginning of September. (sigh). But it will be good to have some time to relax and unwind after this whole stressful ordeal. On a BLUEBERRY FARM!!!!!!! Yum....

Breakfast at Witty's Lagoon

This morning we went for breakfast at Witty's Lagoon. It was beautiful, and the water was really warm! Kristina, Lucy and I splashed around in the open ocean, and then Lucy and I went swimming in a little cove. It was exhilarating. I love swimming. :)

Moved Out- officially

It has been a couple days since we moved out of our house. It was a sad parting. I'm really going to miss that place.

Well, we are now staying with some friends in Langford. They are extremely nice people, very hospitable. I am sharing a very purple room with Kristina. It's a comfortable room, though not as spacious as our old one.

Our friends have been very nice to let all five of us stay. It will  take a while to get used to this neighbourhood living. :)

For Christian-Fantasy fans...

If  you are Fantasy fan, like me, you might enjoy books by author Bryan Davis. He's one of my favourite authors, and has written many, many fantasy books for teens. His books have been nominated a few times for the Clive Staples award, and in 2010 his book, The Bones of Makaidos was declared winner! Anyway, they are very good books, and I would definitely recommend them to any Fantasy lover. If you are interested in finding out more about Mr. Davis and his (incredible) books, check out these links:
