First, before getting to the fortress, I thought I'd give a glimpse of something we have to go through EVERY DAY. The metro station! This is Горьковская (Gor'kovskaya) Station, downtown. The station near our apartment, the one we actually do go into EVERY DAY, is a little different. Some of the stations can be really beautiful, but in those ones you aren't allowed to take pictures. :(
On the escalator, going deep, deep underground.
Waiting for our train, watching the one we missed leave the platform. The trainscome every 2 minutes, so it's not a big deal if you miss one. :)
Watching for the next train.
When we arrived at the fortress, we saw that there was something going on. They shot the cannon, it was really loud, smelled of gunpowder and there was actually some stuff floating down afterward. It was amazing! Anyway, I was all ready to take a picture of the cannon firing, but the noise scared me so much I almost dropped my camera! :) After the cannon fired, there was a presentation thing with soldiers marching and a band playing. It was awesome!
Kept watching that guy with the cymbals. Whenever he lifted them up in the air, I just had to take a picture.
The band.
The soldiers.
Ready, Aim, FIRE! They actually did fire them.
After that, we left Rabbit island and the fortress, and went to see some tanks. :) It was incredible!!!
T-80 -- a modern tank
ROCKETS
Mom says that these are Napoleonic cannons. She's right. She says she knew because of watching Lovejoy. :)
My favourite picture of all the ones I took today. :)
A real Russian tank. The kind with a snow plow. =)
MINESWEEPER!
If they miss one, then...
KABOOM!
